The West Dundee Fire Department is categorized as a combination fire department, utilizing career and part-time personnel in the service delivery system. 14 career and 35 part-time personnel provide for 24 hour staffing at each of the Village's Public Safety Centers located at 555 South Eighth Street and 100 Carrington Drive.
The department provides advanced life support emergency medical care. Emergency medical technicians & paramedics provide assessment, pre-hospital treatment, and transportation to Sherman & Provena Saint Joseph Hospitals located in Elgin, and Saint Alexis Medical Center located in Hoffman Estates.
Additionally, personnel are trained to the standards and certifications of the Office of the State Fire Marshal; providing for fire suppression, hazardous material mitigation, above & below grade technical rescue, and dive rescue & recovery operations.
The service delivery system is enhanced by the Department's commitment to utilize established automatic-aid and mutual-aid resources with neighboring communities.
These resources provide for a high level of service to our residents and the emergency service personnel. Through these cooperative efforts the Fire Department has achieved an ISO Class 3 Insurance Rating.
The Fire Department administers Public Education & Safety Programs and Life Safety Inspections in an effort to further reduce personal injury, loss of life, and property loss.
