Administration

To make sure that Village operations run smoothly, the Village Manager provides supervision over and coordination between all departments and activities of the Village and provides for efficient communication between the Village Staff and Board.

The Administration Department supports the Village Board and is responsible for maintaining the official records of the Village including Minutes of the Board and Commission meetings, Resolutions, Ordinances, contracts, etc. Freedom of information requests regarding these records should be directed to the Village Hall FOIA Officer.

Administrative staff distributes information regarding Village activities to all residents and business owners through the Village Newsletter, Village Newslist email subscription, Facebook and Twitter pages, this website and other outlets as available and needed.

The Administration Department also oversees the coordination of community and volunteer events such as Heritage Fest, Dickens in Dundee, the West Dundee Ambassador Program and more.

Voter registration is also conducted by the Administration Department. Please bring 2 forms of identification with current name and address. You may register to vote at Village Hall if you are a U.S. Citizen 18 years of age (by the date of the next election) and a resident of your Kane County precinct address for 30 days immediately prior to the next election. Two forms of identification are required: At least one of the two forms must show your name and current address, and only one form of identification may be a piece of mail.

Electrical Aggregation Rate Update

UPDATE May 1, 2016: Since the Village of West Dundee last renewed the pricing for our electrical aggregation program (2014), pricing of all commodities has seen an unprecedented drop. For instance the price of gasoline a year and a half ago was $4.50 per gallon has been cut in half. Similarly, electrical pricing has seen a significant price decrease over the last year.

As such, the recently released Com Ed base rate of 6.275 cents per kWh through May, 2017 is considerably lower than the Village’s current electric aggregation program rate of 7.57 cents per kWh.

We in the Village are encouraging residents to switch back to ComEd for the duration of the Village’s program (August 2017). The Village’s program has no early termination fee, so any resident wanting to move to the lower ComEd rate may do so with no penalty by calling the Village’s current supplier, Constellation Energy, at 1-844-309-6310.

Please note that neither the Village nor ComEd can switch your account. You must call Constellation at the above-referenced number in order to do so. Prior to calling, please have your ComEd account number on hand in order to expedite the call.

The Illinois Commerce Commission maintains a "Price to Compare" to assist Illinois residents in understanding how various electricity rate offers compare with the current ComEd rate. More information can be found at www.pluginillinois.org.

Water & Sewer Rates Effective 5/1/2015

A 2% increase to the water/sewer rates and $0.50 increase to the bi-monthly distribution charge went into effect throughout the community on May 1, 2015. All bills generated after this date will reflect these changes.

West Dundee Ambassadors Program

The Village of West Dundee has recently begun to formalize a program to recruit and utilize volunteers within our community. The West Dundee Ambassador Program was formed with the purpose of creating a centralized list of individuals who are interested in giving of their time and talents in order to match these folks up with opportunities as they arise.

We welcome you to register for the Ambassador Program by completing the Volunteer Application and returning it to the Village Hall via mail, fax, email or in person.

Ambassador Program participants will be added to the Village Newslist email subscription. As programs and volunteer events develop, an email will be sent to notify ambassadors and community members.

Should opportunities arise for individual, small group or ad-hoc committees related to specific areas of interest or expertise, those interested or qualified individuals on within the ambassador program will be invited to participate.

General Maintenance Code Enforcement

Based on direction from the Village Board and a focus on general aesthetics of the neighborhoods of West Dundee, the Village will be placing increased attention a number of common property maintenance code violations.

The areas of code enforcement that will be focused on include:

• Vehicles parked in driveways should not block the sidewalk, particularly during daylight hours, in order to promote a pedestrian-friendly environment throughout the Village.

• Refuse containers should not be placed curbside any earlier than the evening prior to collection. Typically, this is Thursday evening. During the week of the 6 major holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day), collection is moved to Saturday, in which case refuse containers should not be placed earlier than Friday evening.

• Garbage cans should not be stored along the front (street side) of your home, but rather along the side or in the rear yard.

• Grass and weeds within your individual lot should be properly maintained, and do not become overgrown or unsightly. These would include any planting beds, landscape areas or lawns.

• Outdoor fire pits must located in the rear yard and at least 20’ away from any structure or combustible material. No garbage or yard waste is permitted to be burned.

• RVs, boats and trailers may not be stored in any driveway for longer than 48 hours.
